My name is Derrick Roy, and I drum for Ryan Ideus & The Feudin’ Hillbillys. My daughter, Elizabeth, was born in September of 2011. However, her expected due date was January of 2012. Yes, she was born 4 months early weighing in just over 1-1/2 pounds with an initial 4-1/2 solid month stay at Carle’s NICU. Elizabeth is unique in that she was born with a virus in her throat, coupled with an extremely rare heart & lung disease. Elizabeth has spent more time in hospitals over her year with us than what she has spent at home. Considering her care is specialized, we visit specialists at St. Louis Children’s Hospital on a monthly or even weekly basis. These are in addition to her Carle visits. Elizabeth is certainly a fighter, but has a great deal to overcome beating the odds put against her by comparable statistics of other case studies. With that said, Elizabeth has an outpouring of biological family, close friends, and my “musical family” that want to show their support through an act of kindness in addition to thoughts & prayers. My wife and I were approached on numerous occassions about having a “fundraiser / benefit / support show” (however you title it). Elizabeth was in between hospital stays on her 1st birthday, so we agreed to throw the largest party that Champaign County has seen.

The day will be full of music starting at 5:00 PM until 2:00 AM amongst 10 bands between 2 stages. Coors Light is the official beer of Ryan Ideus & The Feudin’ Hillbillys and will be featured all night long with other cold adult beverages. The doors open at 4:00 PM! The show is all ages until 10:00 PM, but will be 18 & over after 10:00 due to Urbana’s curfew laws. Throughout the night, there will be a 50/50 raffle & silent auction raffle so that you do not need to be present to win. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or in advance at 88 Broadway. There is a suggested donation of $10 that covers your admission for the entire day.

The line-up / times are tentative, but here is what we have thus far:

90’s Daughter (Dance music of the 90’s & beyond) 5-6
Bellflower Opry (Grand Old Opry format of classic country) 6-7
Boat Drunks (Jimmy Buffet meets Trop-Rock) 7-8
Nickles & Dimes (Acoustic country & pop) 8-9
Sampson Jones Gang (Country, mostly originals…) 9-10
TBA (I have a band from another state coming if they can) 10-11
Ryan Ideus & The Feudin’ Hillbillys (Country, Rap, Pop, Rock) 11-12
Andy Moreillon (Acoustic 50’s/60’s, Reggae, Rock) 12-12:30
X-Krush (Rawk, Shots, Beer, & more Rawk) 12:30-1:30
Scathe (Original Metal) 1:30-2

Given Elizabeth’s uncertain health, we did not want to postpone the show for several months. Initially, we were concerned with everyone getting out in the elements of weather for travel in December. We will hope for “warm” December weather, otherwise we will be “Freezin’ For A Reason”.

For those who cannot attend but would still like to contribute, donations can be made to Elizabeth Roy and addressed as follows: Elizabeth Roy Benefit, First State Bank, 101 West Windsor Road, Champaign, IL 61820-7754.
